Hereke - Rug - 132 cm - 94 cm

Hand-knotted Turkish Hereke silk carpet with a floral garden/Life Tree motif.

Dimensions approx. 132 × 94 cm. Made of pure natural silk, including pile, warp, and weft. The knot density, according to our own measurement, is about 1.3 million knots per square meter.

The rug was acquired in 1982 in Hamburg by my father from a carpet importer based there and has remained in the family ever since. It has been used exclusively as a wall hanging and has never been walked on. Therefore it is in very good, practically unused condition.

Coloring in subtle rose, gold, ivory, green, and blue tones. The central motif shows a rich floral garden depiction with a vase/Life Tree and several florally designed borders.

The rug contains a signature cartouche. The Kocaeli İl Kültür ve Turizm Müdürlüğü had the visible inscription checked by a translator and read it as “Has İpek Hereke.” This does not assign the piece to a specific manufactory.
