English Gilt Loom Side Table with Glass Top and Brass Retaining Clips, a two‑tier, 1930s English piece made in the United Kingdom, in good condition with aged gilt, glass top showing minor wear and brass retaining clips securing the top, dimensions H65 x W63 x D44 cm.
Description from the seller
1930s English Gilt Loom Side Table with Glass Top and Brass Retaining Clips
This elegant two-tier occasional table closely follows the construction language associated with 1930s English Lloyd Loom furniture. Its combination of finely woven material, gilt surface, rectangular glass top, brass retaining clips and lower shelf places it within a highly recognizable interwar decorative furniture tradition.
Interwar English decorative furniture. The table is designed as a practical occasional table, lamp table or side table, with a fitted glass top and a useful lower shelf. The braided upper border, wrapped supports and gilt finish give the piece a refined decorative presence suited to Art Deco, period English and eclectic interiors.
The table retains an attractive aged gilt surface with naturally developed tonal variation throughout the woven structure. The lower shelf preserves its textured period finish. The glass top shows age-related surface marks and localized edge wear visible in the photographs. The glass is secured by multiple brass retaining clips positioned around the upper frame. This fixing method is a particularly interesting period detail and is documented on 1930s Lloyd Loom tables, where brass clips were used to hold fitted glass tops securely in place. It will be shipped exactly as shown in the photographs, so please examine all images carefully.
Dimensions: Height 65 cm, width 63 cm, depth 44 cm.
