Mirror - Wood - Venetian mirror

Type: Wall mirror with a shaped frame and a flowing, late Baroque/Rococo-inspired profile.
Materials: Carved and gilded wood with incised and punched vegetal decoration; mirror with antique silvering.
Measurements: Mirror 42 × 57 cm; overall footprint 66 × 81 cm.
Description: Shaped frame with scrolls and gilded acanthus on a dark brown-reddish background. The back shows ancient assemblies and joints; the mirror exhibits widespread oxidation and losses of silvering consistent with age.
Condition: Discreet/good for its age, with wear to the gilding, cracking, small fractures, and oxidation of the mirror.
Recommended conservation: A light conservation intervention is advisable, avoiding invasive re-gilding.
Dating: Second half of the 18th century – early decades of the 19th century, roughly 1770–1820. Cautious attribution to a Veneto scope.
Provenance: From an ancient private collection of the Premoli family, then Premoli Silva, a historic Lombard noble family of old origin; the work has been preserved and passed down within the family collections across several generations, up to the current ownership by inheritance.
