Item features:
Type: Conus bandanus (Hwass in Bruguiere, 1792)
Size: Impressive 112 mm (XL size for this species)
Locality: Cebu, Philippines
Condition: Naturally cleaned, superbly preserved structure, pronounced crown (spira) and high-contrast pattern.
Description and special features:
Conus bandanus stands out with its characteristic pattern of deep-dark, almost black tentacular structures on a white to cream-colored ground. Compared with the similar species Conus marmoreus, the banded marble cone is distinguished by two prominent, irregular bands of finer pattern elements that encircle the shell horizontally.
