Description from the seller
Antique South-Moroccan koummya from the Amazigh/Berber tradition. A stout and heavy specimen measuring 41 cm and weighing 480 g. Circa 1900.
Hand-forged curved steel blade and wooden grip with brass fittings. The sheath is richly hand-engraved and supplied with a silver inlay over brass.
Clear signs of use show that the dagger has indeed been used. The silver is locally worn down to the brass, creating a beautiful, natural and authentic aged patina.
With handsome openwork suspension mounts, an old hanging cord and tassels. Older repairs and normal signs of age present. Not polished, so the original patina is well preserved.
Exceptionally beautiful authentic piece!
