Specimen Mauritia arabica immanis (65 mm) in F++ condition from Madagascar, year 1980, a rare golden colour variant with warm gold-toned infusion under the arabesque pattern.
Description from the seller
Scientific name: Mauritia arabica immanis (F. A. Schilder & M. Schilder, 1939) – also known as Cypraea arabica immanis. In the German-speaking world referred to as the Large Arabian porcelain snail.
Characteristic (color form): This exquisite specimen captivates with a rare, warm gold tint ("Golden/Aureous Infusion") on the dorsal surface. Instead of the usual gray-cream base tone, honey to golden-yellow nuances flow under the delicate arabesque line pattern. This gives the shell an exceptionally warm radiance and makes it a true centerpiece in any specialized collection.
Origin & Localities: Western Indian Ocean; collected on the outer reefs of southeast Madagascar (Region Toliara / Fort Dauphin).
Habitat: Principally in surf-rich tidal zones and shallow reef plateaus (1 to 12 meters depth), hidden beneath massive coral blocks.
Size & Condition: 65 mm – a superbly proportioned, typical shell size for this African giant subspecies. Condition F++ (Fine plus plus): An excellent cabinet piece with excellently preserved baselack. Minimal, natural growth features or tiny irregularities at the siphonal terminus identify it as an authentic, live-collected natural product, but do not diminish the glossy overall impression in the display case.
