An antique folk art statue of Saint Francis of Assisi, circa late 18th, early 19th century. A typical example of Spanish colonial religious folk art, a so-called "Santo", probably originating from Latin America, such as Mexico or the Philippines. Nicely carved polychrome statue with a thin gesso underlayer. Hand repaired. With age, showing nice wear and aging.
