Candlestick (2) - Gilt bronze - Pair of candlesticks

Two bronze candelabra, in the Louis XVI style, also known as "Bouts de Table". The "bouts de table" are distinguished from the large centerpieces (surtouts de table) which, for practical and structural reasons, were designed with a reduced height so as not to obstruct the view between diners seated at opposite sides of the table. They were placed symmetrically at the two ends to distribute light evenly over the entire surface of the banquet.

Each of them features two curved arms of light, which seem to emerge from stylized acanthus leaves, where the buds are set with simplicity and elegance. You will notice that these parts of the candlestick are removable to facilitate cleaning.

The cylindrical shaft seems to recall the ancient unyielding columns.

These objects rest on a circular plinth, decorated with acanthus foliage.

On a sideboard or a table, these two perfectly symmetrical candelabra will create a sober atmosphere and beautify your interiors. Their design and the small signs that only time can bestow upon these masterpieces will bring charm, charm and character to a decoration that is boldly showy and decidedly refined.
