Cleto Munari was born in Gorizia on July 19, 1930, but is a Vicenza-born by adoption. A major figure in the world of international creativity, in the period bridging the 20th and 21st centuries, currently, at 93, Munari is regarded as one of the most illustrious and recognized leaders of the avant-garde, still in full creative ferment, distant from the dictates of fashion.
Among the numerous collaborations he undertook, a key role was that with master Carlo Scarpa in 1973 and with his friend, architect Ettore Sottsass, who inspired him and left him with a lasting sense of beauty.
