San Leonardo is one of Italy's most prestigious and iconic red wines, crafted by the historic Tenuta San Leonardo estate (owned by the Marchesi Guerrieri Gonzaga family). The winery is located in Avio, within the Vallagarina valley in southern Trentino, inside an ancient hamlet that was once a monastery over a thousand years ago.Key Wine CharacteristicsGrape Blend: It is a classic Bordeaux blend made of Cabernet Sauvignon (around 60%), Carmenère (30%), and Merlot (10%).Style: It stands out for its aristocratic elegance, alpine freshness, and an extraordinary aging potential that can easily exceed 25 years.Tasting Notes: The nose reveals dark and red berries, balsamic undertones, green bell pepper, black pepper, tobacco, and graphite. The palate is warm, deep, and persistent.Aging: It matures for 24 months in small French oak barrels (barriques) followed by long aging in the bottle before release.
