Description from the seller
Precious Russian icon of the Mother of God of Kazan, from the first half of the 19th century, painted in tempera on panel.
No reserve!
A work of excellent craftsmanship and strong presence, with splendid antique coloration, refined and meticulous details and a genuine patina that bears witness to the passage of time.
In excellent condition, with natural signs of aging.
The back retains the two original wooden crossbars, a detail particularly appreciated for completeness and preservation.
Particularly interesting is the conservation history: the icon was kept for over fifty years sheltered, never displayed and largely untouched, a circumstance that helped preserve its genuine appearance, patina and splendid antique coloration.
An important testament to 19th-century Russian sacred iconography, a piece with history and character, worthy of a high-level collection dedicated to ancient icons.
Measures 31x27x5 cm.
Proper packaging and fast shipping.
