Description from the seller
925 Sterling Silver Pendant with Rare Gem — Natural Australian pink mookaite pendant
This pendant is made with natural Australian pink mookaite, a rare variety still little used in the jewelry sector, appreciated especially by collectors and enthusiasts of unconventional geological materials.
Mookaite belongs to the family of silica diaspires and is a sedimentary rock formed from ancient sediments rich in marine microfossils, particularly radiolarians, subsequently transformed through long silicification processes.
The pink coloration, less common than the classic yellow or red mookaite, is the result of specific chemical conditions during formation, linked to the presence and distribution of iron oxides in varying concentrations.
The surfaces of the stone often show stratifications, density variations, veins and irregular inclusions that tell of successive phases of deposition, pressure and recementation.
Each specimen presents a unique texture, with color transitions ranging from pale pink and chalky to warmer and earthier tones.
Mookaite formed in shallow marine environments of Western Australia, within sedimentary basins later consolidated and transformed over time.
This origin is clearly readable in the stone’s internal structure, which preserves memory of the natural processes that generated it.
The stone is mounted in 925 silver with an essential and discreet setting, designed to enhance the material without interfering with the natural design.
The polishing is designed to render legible the surfaces and internal structures, preserving the mineral’s material character.
This is a jewel characterized by the use of a rare mineral in traditional jewelry, where aesthetics arise directly from geology and time.
A pendant for those who appreciate authentic stones, not standardized, and who recognize value in the natural history imprinted in the matter, even before its ornamental function.
