Description from the seller
Art Nouveau - Complete 12 Months Series - Richárd Hegedüs-Geiger - J.P.W. Wien - New/Unsent (1900-1904)
Splendid and rare complete series of 12 vintage Art Nouveau / Jugendstil postcards depicting the months of the year, illustrated by the renowned Hungarian artist Hegedüs-Geiger.
Artist: Richard Hegedüs-Geiger (signed on the illustration)
Publisher: J.P.W. (Jos. Eberle & Co. / Vienna) – Series 366 (complete numbering from 1 to 12)
Period: Circa 1900 - 1904 (Belle Époque / Austro-Hungarian Empire)
Printing technique: High-quality chromolithography with elegant metallic relief details in bronze/gold color in the corner medallions.
Condition: Excellent vintage preservation. All 12 postcards are NEW/UNSENT (never written on, without stamps, cancellations or adhesive residues from an album).
Back features: They display the typical undivided back (the rear space entirely reserved for the address, a feature before the 1905 postal reforms) with multilingual official inscriptions of the "Universal Postal Union".
The fronts of the postcards are very clean, the colors are vivid and wear is minimal, with a light and natural patina of age only on the edges that guarantees their authenticity. A complete, intact set of over 120 years, magnificent and extremely hard to find on the market in these conditions.
