Vitra - Maarten Van Severen - Dining table - T88W table, 8 x .03 chairs, book - Oak

Maarten Van Severen T88W full oak table
-----------------------------------------

A distinctive piece by Belgian designer Maarten Van Severen, the T88W is a beautiful expression of his approach to furniture: pure, functional and reduced to its essential form.

Executed entirely in solid oak, the table combines a strong, architectural presence with the warmth and tactility of natural wood. Its restrained proportions and minimal detailing give it a timeless character, allowing the material itself to become the focus.

This particular T88W measures 220 cm in length. The solid oak tabletop has naturally developed a warm, authentic patina over time, with visible signs of use that reflect its history and add character to the piece.

A genuine example of Van Severen’s design philosophy, with the beauty of a piece that has been lived with rather than simply displayed.

This T88W was produced by Vitra (which produces MVS tables for a very limited period), adding to the rarity and collectability of the piece. The original Vitra identification/markings are present underneath the table.

Maarten Van Severen .03 Chairs – Set of 8
------------------------------------------

A set of eight .03 chairs designed by Belgian designer Maarten Van Severen and produced by Vitra, offered together with the T88W table.

The .03 is a defining example of Van Severen’s approach to seating: minimal, functional and exceptionally refined, with a distinctive sculptural simplicity. Its clean lines and carefully considered proportions embody his characteristic approach of reducing furniture to its essential form while retaining comfort and functionality.

Produced by Vitra, the .03 combines Van Severen’s distinctive design language with the precision and quality of industrial production for which Vitra is known.

These eight chairs are in very good condition and have seen exceptionally limited use — approximately 4–5 times per year for meetings. As a result, they have been very lightly used and remain particularly well preserved, with only minimal signs of use.

The eight chairs are offered together with the 220 cm Maarten Van Severen T88W solid oak table, creating a coherent and complete Van Severen ensemble.

A rare opportunity to acquire eight matching .03 chairs in very well-preserved condition, together with the corresponding T88W table.

Maarten Van Severen: Werken / Work Book
-------------------------------------------

Maarten Van Severen: Werken / Work, published by Stichting Kunstboek in 2004, is an extensive monographic publication dedicated to the work and design philosophy of the Belgian designer.

The book brings together a broad overview of Van Severen’s furniture and interior projects, including many of his best-known designs, alongside photography, drawings and contributions from colleagues, experts and collaborators. It offers an unusually comprehensive insight into his approach to materials, form, construction and the relationship between furniture and architecture.

Published in Dutch and English, the book comprises approximately 268 pages and is richly illustrated throughout. It was published in connection with the major retrospective of Van Severen’s work at Design Museum Gent in 2004. The book is in very good condition, with the binding, pages and illustrations all exceptionally well preserved.

An important reference for anyone interested in Maarten Van Severen and Belgian contemporary design, and a natural complement to the T88W table and .03 chairs offered in this collection.
