Description from the seller
Pair of Curved Wood Chairs in Thonet Style – Late 19th / Early 20th Century
Fascinating pair of antique chairs in **curved wood Thonet-style**, characterized by the classic double-arched backrest and the traditional **round Vienna straw seat woven**. The specimens feature different finishes, one **ebonized black** and the other in a warm **reddish-brown** tone, testimony to their conservational history and the charm of the time.
The structure, made according to the famous technique of **steam-bent wood**, expresses the elegance and lightness of Central European production between the late 19th century and the first decades of the 20th century. On the brown-red chair there are still **traces of original production labels and marks**, additional element of historical and collectible interest.
**Conditions to review**: both chairs show wear to the finishes, abrasions, signs of age and require conservation/restoration work, as visible in the photographs. The Vienna straw seems present but requires verification and restoration. An interesting pair for restorers, collectors and enthusiasts of Thonet design and historical modernism.
