Description from the seller
Pair of Bentwood Chairs in Thonet Style – Late 19th / Early 20th Century
Elegant pair of **antique bentwood chairs**, inspired by the famous **Thonet** models, characterized by the classic double-arc backrest and the traditional **round Viennese straw seat** woven. The light and harmonious shapes, achieved through the renowned **steam-bent wood** technique, represent one of the most iconic symbols of Central European production from the late 19th to the early decades of the 20th century.
Both chairs feature a **black ebonized finish**, today enhanced by an authentic patina and evident signs of time that attest to their age and use. The seats preserve the characteristic Vienna straw weaving, while the frame retains the essential, timeless charm of Thonet design.
**Conditions to review**: the chairs show widespread wear to the finishes, abrasions, discolorations, small conservation defects and visible signs of use, as documented by the photographs. No production marks or labels were detected. An ideal pair for a conservative restoration intervention, perfect for collectors, designers, or lovers of historic bentwood design.
