Trappen - Circles - De Kaartenmakers is a 1st edition hardback by Rein Jansma, published in Dutch by Joost Elffers in 1982, with a slipcase, 16 pages, 26.5 × 19 cm, in good condition, and includes 10 folded accordion sheets forming a pop-up staircase plus an original 45 rpm record, a small booklet and a colophon.
Description from the seller
10 folded sheets glued at the fore-edges to create an accordion-like book with a pop-up staircase at each inner fold. Plus:
(1) an original 45 rpm record in white paper sleeve, containing: 'Circles' song from 'the photographer' (composed/keyboards: Philip Glass; voice: Dora Ornstein; piano/keyboards: Michael Riesman),
(2) a small booklet ([6] pp., b./w. ills, stapled wrappers) with the story 'De Reiziger en de Cartograaf' by Jaap Goudsmit and
(3) a colophon on one loose leaf. Together in original slipcase with glued on title.
The original Dutch 1982 edition. Rein Jansma briefly studied biology and architecture at the TU Delft but decided that "making things" was what he had to do. - The publication of the book coincides with the performance "De Fotograaf" of Rob Malasch, for which the music was composed by Philip Glass. The stage sets of the performance have been designed according to the structure of stairs in the book.
Good condition. The slipcase has a crease in the spine and discoloration due to age (see photos).
