This impressive Crystal-Opal natural specimen from Ethiopia captivates with its exceptional transparency, its warm, light honey-green to olive-green base color, and an unusually vivid play of color. Within the transparent to translucent opal body, a fascinating blaze of color unfolds, displaying intense green, bright blue, strong orange, yellow, and fiery red, which reveals new color zones as the light hits it from different angles. Particularly impressive are the large orange-red flashes in the lower and middle areas, interwoven with intense green and occasional electric blues, giving the piece extraordinary optical depth. The natural rough form with its characteristic irregular outer contour and the clearly preserved areas of the matrix or host rock emphasize the original character of this specimen. At the same time, selected areas have been carefully smoothed and polished, making the underlying opal structure stand out even more and causing the color play to seem to glow from within the stone. Thanks to the combination of transparent opal substance, natural matrix, pronounced depth, and an extraordinarily intense color play, this is an exceptionally decorative and distinctly characterful piece for lovers of high-quality Welo- and Crystal-Opals.
