Amidst the vineyard rows of Monforte d'Alba, Diego Pressenda embarked on a fascinating venture, bringing the king of northern grape varieties to the beating heart of the Langhe. Here, Riesling sheds its classic Alpine austerity, taking on a distinctly Piedmontese character. Monforte d'Alba is a historic village renowned worldwide for the power and longevity of its Barolo wines. Yet, the Langhe region is capable of great versatility; the marly, calcareous soil of these hills, combined with constant breezes, has proven perfect for white grape varieties as well. Producing a Riesling in this area offers enthusiasts a wine that breaks the traditional mold. The strength of "Al Bric" lies in its ability to absorb the mineral complexity of the Langhe soils, translating it into a substantial structure that holds its own against the area's red wines. Upon arrival at the winery, the grapes undergo direct pressing. Alcoholic fermentation proceeds slowly in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Once fermentation is complete, the wine rests on its lees in steel for several months a maturation process that is the true secret behind its rich, enveloping texture. In the glass, it displays a brilliant straw-yellow hue. Distinct notes of lemon zest and mango emerge immediately on the nose, followed by a delicate bouquet of white flowers. On the palate, the wine strikes a perfect balance of contrasts: the sip is full-bodied, rich, and elegant reminiscent of the great Langhe reds yet it finishes with a streak of mineral freshness and salinity that cleanses the palate and invites another sip.
