Description from the seller
Vins de Vienne: three passionate winemakers, one shared vision: to resurrect the ancient hillsides of Seyssuel, celebrated since Roman times. United since 1996, Yves Cuilleron, Pierre Gaillard, and François Villard craft wines that capture the true soul of the northern Rhône, from their iconic IGP cuvées to the greatest appellations of the valley.
1) Saint-Joseph Blanc - L'Élouède 2024
Named after the local Pilat dialect word for lightning, L'Élouède is a blend of Roussanne (70%) and Marsanne (30%) from south-east facing granite terraces, with vines averaging 25 years old. Aged on lees in concrete vats, demi-muids, and foudres for 9 months.
Appearance: Pale gold color.
Nose: Complex and inviting, with peach, honey, white flowers, and a subtle toasted note.
Palate: Round, mineral, and full-bodied, with excellent freshness and a long, harmonious finish.
A beautiful white blend with good aging potential, best enjoyed within 5 years.
2) White Crozes-Hermitage 2022
Sourced from alluvial pebble soils, this Marsanne-based white is fermented and aged in a blend of concrete vats, foudres, and oak barrels to preserve its aromatic freshness and add subtle complexity.
Appearance: Pale yellow with golden hues.
Nose: Floral and expressive, with white blossom, pear, apricot, and a delicate almond note.
Palate: Fresh and textured, with generous stone fruit, lovely balance, and a clean, lingering finish.
Made predominantly from Marsanne, this white wine is enjoyable now and can be cellared for up to 5 years.
3) Marsanne Les Vignes d'à Côté 2024
Yves Cuilleron's Marsanne stands out for its clear, limpid color. The nose is reminiscent of a bouquet of white flowers with citrus notes. The palate is mineral and rich, with a bitter finish that lingers.
Made from 100% Marsanne grapes, this wine is produced from a blend of plots located in the “Collines Rhodaniennes” PGI area and is aged for eight months, divided equally between barrels, casks, and vats.
Best enjoyed young and fresh.
Food and wine pairings: Enjoy with cheese, especially goat cheese.
4) Heluicum - IGP Collines Rhodaniennes 2024
Named after Helios, the sun god, and one of the three historic wines of ancient Vienne cited by Pliny the Elder, Heluicum comes from the restored vineyards of Seyssuel overlooking the Rhône. Produced by Les Vins de Vienne, this wine is made from 100% Syrah grown on schist- and quartz-rich soils and aged for approximately 12 months in French oak barrels.
Appearance: Deep ruby to purple-red color with garnet reflections.
Nose: Expressive aromas of ripe red and black berries, violet, and sweet spices, with subtle notes of undergrowth and pepper.
Palate: Fresh and approachable, offering silky tannins, vibrant fruit, and a harmonious balance of richness and elegance. The finish is long, savory, and gently spiced.
Made from 100% Syrah grapes, this red wine is more immediately accessible than Sotanum while retaining the character of the Seyssuel terroir. It can be enjoyed young for its fruit-forward charm or cellared for 7–8 years to gain additional complexity.
5) Red Crozes-Hermitage 2023
Sourced from four communes across the central and southern parts of the appellation, this Syrah is aged 12 months in a combination of French oak barrels, foudres, and concrete vats to preserve its vibrant fruit character.
Appearance: Deep, brilliant ruby color.
Nose: Aromatic and fresh, with red fruits, white pepper, olive, and a floral lift of violet and lily.
Palate: Fresh and full, with silky tannins, ripe fruit flavors, and a toasted finish.
Made from 100% Syrah grapes, this red wine is approachable now and will continue to develop over the next 5 years.
6) Syrah Les Vignes d'à Côté 2025
The Syrah from the Yves CUILLERON estate stands out for its brilliant red color. The nose is pleasant and aromatic, with notes of fresh red fruit. On the palate, these fresh red fruit flavors are present, accented by the Syrah’s spicy notes.
Made from 100% Syrah, this wine is a blend from plots located on the edges of the crus within the Collines Rhodaniennes IGP, and is aged for eight months, split equally between barrels and tanks.
Best enjoyed young, within 3–4 years.
Food and wine pairings: Pair with charcuterie or grilled meats such as beef skewers.
