Description from the seller
Rarity, especially new and still in publisher's cellophane like the one offered here at auction
Editor: Buchhart, Dieter, Preface: Suzanne Gallimard
Fondation Louis Vuitton
La Fondation Louis Vuitton organises in October 2010 a major retrospective dedicated to the artist Jean-Michel Basquiat (1960-1988), one of the most influential painters of the 20th century, an icon of contemporary art. Reflecting the exhibition, this monographic catalogue traces the painter's entire career from 1980 to 1988, focusing on around a hundred of his most decisive works. This book-catalogue includes never-before-seen works in Europe, essential works and canvases rarely seen since their first presentations during the artist's lifetime. The existential character of the line in Basquiat, as in Schiele, is one of the through lines highlighted by Dieter Buchhart, curator of the two major events of the Parisian art season.
