Description from the seller
Four postcard-sized prints that were not actually made to be mailed, because of the blank back, but specially manufactured for collectors. Notably, the emphasis is on the bosom; in this period (1910-1920) this was not common! Initials bottom-right JA stand for Jean Agelou (1878-1921).
Most of his models sit half-dressed on chairs, in front of a mirror, on a divan, or on a carpet. The photos were immensely popular among soldiers during World War I, and circulated on both sides in the trenches. The brothers also sold the props seen in the photos, while a lingerie line was also started. By the end of the war, Jean Agélou sold his photos to various publishers, which appear on the cards in abbreviations such as GA for his brother Georges Agélou, but also GP, GB, ER, La Grisette and Lydia. In 1921 Jean and his brother Georges died in a car accident.
