Large oval meat platter in Blue Willow transferware on white ceramic, dating to the 1840s–1850s, made in the United Kingdom, in very good condition with minor wear, dimensions 47 × 37 × 5 cm, weight 2.5 kg, with a rear metal wall hook (removable).

Up for auction is a fascinating and large oval serving platter (plat de ménage / meat platter) decorated with the iconic and timeless “Blue Willow” motif in cobalt blue on a white background. This famous transferware pattern encapsulates the romantic Anglo-Chinese legend of two young lovers who, to escape her father's wrath, are transformed by the gods into two doves, visible in flight at the top of the scene. The design shows all the classic elements coveted by collectors: the majestic pagoda, the arched bridge with the three figures, the decorative fence, the boat, and the distinctive willow tree (Willow).
The platter features an elegant geometric and floral border typical of traditional European manufactories. It is currently equipped with a rear metal hook for wall display, which can be removed if you wish to use it as a centerpiece or serving platter.
