Among the Ewe, these representations are called Venavi, and Hohovi among the Fon.

The EWE inhabit a coastal area extending from Ghana, Togo and Benin to the
borders of Nigeria.
They practice a twin cult very similar to that of the Yoruba, and it is within
this framework that these statuettes are produced; in the very varied styles, sometimes due
to proximity influences (Akan on the Ghana side, Yoruba on the Nigerian side)
