Dorothy Hafner (b. 1952) is an American ceramic artist known for her bold use of color, graphic geometry, and her role in introducing a distinctly American postmodern aesthetic into European porcelain. Hafner's work for Rosenthal in the 1980s marked a decisive shift toward postmodern color expression, combining the exuberance of the American Memphis era with German precision production. These teacups and saucers are exemplary of that period: decorative without being exaggerated, expressive yet restrained.
