Vintage 1950s Double Bed Ensemble - Pure Cotton with Handcrafted Lily of the Valley Embroidery.
For those who love lily of the valley, a flower with a splendid fragrance, this antique double bed set (1950s) comes from an Italian artisanal trousseau.
The set consists of one top sheet and two oversized pillowcases, made of pure high-quality cotton, characterized by the typical fresh and durable feel of mid-20th-century yarn.
The standout feature of this lot is its decoration: a rich full-stitch embroidery executed entirely by machine with manual guidance (era hand-guided free-motion technique).
The refined botanical motif depicts delicate lily of the valley with green leaves, enhanced by an elegant yellow bow.
There are a total of 101 embroidered motifs arranged with symmetry and elegance: 25 embroideries along the edge of the two large pillowcases, 36 embroideries on the first hem of the top sheet, and 40 embroideries on the second hem of the top sheet.
Dimensions: top sheet 230 x 240 cm, pillowcases 88 x 60 cm (vintage measurements).
Condition: like new: the fabric is perfectly intact, the thread colors (green and yellow) are vivid and not faded. No signs of storage staining (foxing), tears or signs of wear.
It is a sheet that was part of my mother's trousseau, who in her garden grew lily of the valley, her favorite flower.
