Icon - Christ Enthroned - Wood

Russian Orthodox icon depicting Christ Enthroned as the King and Lord, painted in tempera on a wooden panel. Christ is shown frontally seated upon an elaborate architectural throne, wearing brilliant red imperial robes and a crown, with a gilt cruciform halo. His right hand is raised in blessing while his left supports the globus cruciger, symbolizing divine sovereignty over the world.

The composition is distinguished by its vivid turquoise ground, strong red and ochre palette, fine linear detailing, and Church Slavonic inscriptions above the figure. The reverse retains traditional wooden construction with an inset transverse support batten. Surface craquelure, rubbing, edge losses, and other age-related wear are visible, consistent with devotional use and age.
