Jean-Marie Ragon - „La Messe dans ses rapports avec les mystères et les cérémonies de l’antiquité“ - 1850

Title: Rare early edition – J.-M. Ragon: La Messe et les Mystères de l’Antiquité (2nd edition, ca. 1846)\n\nFor sale is a rare early French edition of the well-known Masonic and esoteric author Jean-Marie Ragon (1781–1862), which presumably was part of a Templar library (see photos).\nIn this fascinating and historically significant work, Ragon draws detailed parallels between the Catholic Mass liturgy and the initiation rites, mysteries, and ceremonies of ancient cultures (including Egyptians and Greeks).\nThis is the sought-after Second Edition (Deuxième Édition), collaboratively published by Garnier Frères in Paris, Dulau & Barthès in London, and Julien Fils in Geneva.\n\nCondition: Original period pamphlet binding. The cover shows clear, age-typical signs of wear, stains, and bumps (see detail photos). The binding is fragile for its age, but the inner text block is largely stable and in authentic, untrimmed condition. Subsequently reinforced with a sturdy cover.\n\nA wonderful collector’s item for libraries focusing on occultism, Freemasonry, religious history, and esotericism.
