Medieval jug in Raeren stoneware.
Stoneware vase with salt-glazed brown glaze. The body is ribbed, bulbous in form, with a straight neck adorned with a ridge, and a ribbon handle.
This vase is part of the very early European ceramics to be glazed. The glaze is unevenly distributed.
The jug has an old label under the base bearing the number 21.

Very good condition – small chips
Provenance: Germany, Dr D.E.R. Studio.
Previously: a significant private Dutch collection of medieval and Renaissance ceramics formed at the end of the 19th century.
