Description from the seller
SUCHOMIMUS TENERENSIS – FOSSIL TOOTH
For sale: an authentic fossil tooth of Suchomimus tenerensis, an impressive spinosaurid theropod from the Early Cretaceous of Niger.
Suchomimus tenerensis was a large carnivorous dinosaur, probably strongly fish-focused. The species was described in 1998 and is known from the Elrhaz Formation near Gadoufaoua in the Ténéré Desert of Niger. From this formation, among others, several Suchomimus teeth are known.
SPECIMEN INFORMATION
• Species: Suchomimus tenerensis
• Type: Fossil tooth
• Family: Spinosauridae
• Formation: Elrhaz Formation
• Locality: Gadoufaoua, Ténéré Desert, Niger
• Period: Early Cretaceous
• Era: Aptian–Albian
• Age: approximately 125–100 million years, depending on precise stratigraphic dating.
The tooth has the characteristic elongated and conical shape we associate with spinosaurids. The clear lengthwise grooves across the tooth surface and the relatively slender form are particularly distinctive for this group.
Suchomimus is a very interesting dinosaur for collectors, partly because authentic teeth from the Elrhaz Formation are offered much less frequently than the well-known Spinosaurus teeth from the Kem Kem Beds.
INFORMATION CARD INCLUDED
Each tooth comes with a professional information card, as shown in the photos. It lists the scientific name, geological age, formation, and locality.
A special fossil for collectors of dinosaurs, spinosaurids, and African fossils. An authentic tooth of Suchomimus tenerensis is a beautiful artifact from the Early Cretaceous of Niger.
Dimensions: see photos / individual advertisement.
Origin: Gadoufaoua, Ténéré Desert, Niger.
Best regards,
