AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Crank mechanism - early 20th century
A very fine specimen of early cinema mechanics, preserving its Pathé Frères medallion with the rooster signed Becker, in patinated brass, bearing the number 23051.
The mechanism retains, notably, its original brass adjustable lens mount, its film channel, its intermittent-drive toothed drum, its gears, pinions and chains. The removable crank is absent.
Several matching parts, including normally little-visible internal elements, bear the same hand-stamped assembly number “36.” Other workshop markings, notably “50” and “1,” are also present. These markings constitute a particularly interesting detail of its manufacture and period assembly.
The mechanism is movable: when operated manually, the gears, pinions and chains on both sides operate simultaneously.
The brass lens holder is adjustable and functional (about 4.5 to 7 cm; inner diameter about 4 cm). The optical assembly/lenses are absent: the lens holder is empty, as visible in the photographs.
The head alone weighs about 8.5 kg and measures approximately 19 × 24 × 8.5 cm.
The device is sold incomplete, without a lantern, base, reels, or optics. It displays patina, signs of use and oxidation consistent with its age. It has deliberately not been restored in order to preserve its antique condition and markings.
An interesting collectible piece devoted to the beginnings of professional French cinema projection and to the history of Pathé Frères.
