Description from the seller
Antique Junghans Oak Wall Clock, German Mechanical Pendulum Clock, 4 Rod Gong, circa 1925–1935
This is a very well preserved Junghans wall clock from Germany, dating from the early decades of the 20th century.
The case is veneered in oak and has an attractive arched form with carved decoration around the upper part and along the sides. The warm colour and visible oak grain give the clock a particularly pleasant appearance.
The metal dial measures approximately 20 cm in diameter and has large Arabic numerals together with a smaller 24-hour scale. The glass covering the dial is convex. The lower door has decorative bevelled glass and gives a clear view of the brass pendulum.
The mechanical movement is signed Junghans and marked W202. It is fitted with a four-hammer striking mechanism sounding on four gong rods. The gong has a rich and very pleasant tone. The clock strikes the full hours in the correct number and gives one strike on the half hour.
The clock is working very well. The movement, pendulum and striking mechanism all function correctly. The case is also in very good condition without significant damage and shows only normal traces consistent with its age.
Dimensions are approximately 59 cm high, 31 cm wide and 15 cm deep.
A winding key is included.
This clock comes from my private collection. Antique mechanical clocks are sensitive to transport, so after delivery the clock may require careful levelling and a small adjustment of the beat before running correctly again.
