Description from the seller
Statuette of a reader by the sculptor Moreau, a clock garniture.
This sculpture, made by one of the Moreau brothers, represents a reader seated on a nurse chair in a posture that blends relaxation and contemplation.
This sculpture is in bronze with a very beautiful patina and in excellent condition.
The signature is on the seat of the chair under the reader’s leg.
The clock is a French clock from the 19th century. I don’t know if the clock mechanism works.
The bronzier-editor is the house Bouvier; the name is engraved in brass at the back of the mechanism along with the numbers 1677.
There is no base. It is a very beautiful authentic collectible object from the 19th century (Napoleonic period or late 19th century).
