Description from the seller
Antique Center Table/Desk in the Louis XV / Napoleon III Style – Late 1800s / Early 1900s
Elegant and refined center table for use as a writing desk, crafted at the turn of the late 19th and early 20th centuries in perfect Louis XV / Napoleon III taste.
Construction and Materials: The piece unfolds with two comfortable wooden support shelves richly veneered and adorned with precious inlaid wood veneers. The characteristic curved legs (cabriole legs) support a solid and balanced structure.
Decorations: The upper surface and the panels feature meticulous cabinetmaking work with geometric inlays in diamond motifs and floral details. The furniture is further enriched by applications and decorations in gilded and chased bronze, visible on both the side rails and the supporting feet.
Functionality: On the side there is a drawer finished with a decorative handle. The distinctive feature is the practical pull-out writing surface covered in green leather, which instantly transforms the piece into a functional and discreet antique desk.
Condition: The piece is structurally sound and very solid. It bears the patina of time and requires only a small conservational restoration on the surface varnish to restore its original glossy brilliance.
