Description from the seller
The German counter-offensive in the Ardennes in December 1944 consisted of several army corps, including the Kampfgruppe of Colonel SS Joachim Peiper of the 1st SS Panzer Division, of which this Schwimmwagen is a part. This reconstruction traces an episode of propaganda filmed on that occasion. The cameraman (doing the shoot in mute) stops a first car and its two occupants, pretending to search for their route while standing beside these signposts. For the next car, these signs are arranged. But what isn’t visible in the video attached is the driver’s irritation with all this theater. That’s why on the figurine he wears the smile of a Samurai mask! One must believe the videographer reproaches him for his attitude, and the driver then regains his smile.
To watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wWOOnRIpGqg
The driver wears a jacket known as a “flou” with a bonnet taken from a US tanker. For the other uniforms, the jackets and the cameraman’s overall are described as “feuille de chêne” (oak leaf). On one face it represents spring and on the other autumn, hence the orange dominance.
I have never painted this type of uniform either; I had to do a lot of research.
