Description from the seller

Rare Daguéretéype (copper plate coated with a thin layer of pure silver) 19th century
Napoleon III
– Portrait of a Woman
– DARRÉ Workshop Bordeaux

Authentic and rare primitive photograph from the Second Empire era.

It is a daguéréotype of great fineness, featuring the portrait of a young bourgeois woman.

The back is 100% original, sealed by its blue-green period paper. It retains its original intact label from the workshop of Mr & Mrs DARRÉ, located at 16 Rue Maleret in Bordeaux.

Very sharp portrait. The young woman wears a headband hairstyle typical of the 1850s, a dark dress with a large white lace collar, and a long fine watch chain.

Excellent overall condition for an object over 160 years old. Very good legibility. Slight oxidation from use along the edge of the plate, attesting to its authenticity. Frame intact.
