Elegant sewing set (nécessaire à couture) of French origin, composed of four richly worked silver parts: a cylindrical needle case (étui), a thimble, a punch or awl with an ornamental handle, and embroidery scissors, all in their original tailor-made box. All pieces share a homogeneous repousse decoration in the neorococo / Napoleon III style, with abundant scrolls, floral motifs, scallop shells, and relief mascarons, typical of the historicist taste of the late 19th century. The set is complete in its original coffin-shaped box of palisander wood. The mark "800" visible on the thimble confirms the use of continental sterling silver, common in French and European production of the period.

The pieces are made of 800-grade sterling silver using repoussé and chased techniques, with steel blades in the scissors and the awl. The thimble features the characteristic knurling on the dome and a floral frieze at the base, with the numeric punch "800" and the size "6" clearly stamped. The étui consists of two parts that unscrew/interlock to store needles inside. The palisander box features beveled edges with a light wood marquetry fillet, a brass cartouche in the form of a label on the lid (no engraved monogram), and burgundy velvet lining cut to fit each tool.

The overall condition is good, in keeping with its age and use. The silver pieces retain good detail in the repoussé, with patina and slight traces of dulling. The steel of the scissors and the awl shows some polishing loss, but they remain sharp as on day one. The box shows wear marks, as well as small losses and lifts along the white edge of the velvet lining. The set remains complete with its four original tools, and the box retains its hinge and metal clasp fully functional.

Silver sewing kits in wooden cases were highly regarded feminine accessories during the 19th century, valued for both practicality and as luxury gifts. Complete examples, with all four pieces matching and in their original box, are increasingly difficult to find, as they were often dispersed. The decorative coherence of the set, the 800 silver mark, and the presence of the palisander case make it an attractive piece for collectors of sewing implements, miniature silver, and display objects.
