English silver-mounted gentleman’s dress cane, London 1916

An English gentleman’s dress cane, the curved silver handle terminating in a naturalistically modelled cluster of berries, mounted on a slender black ebonised shaft. The silver is fully hallmarked for London 1916.

The black shaft is characteristic of the elegant evening or dress canes carried by gentlemen during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Length: 91 cm.

The silver shows surface wear, light dents and scratches consistent with age and use. The shaft has corresponding age-related wear. The ferrule is no longer present.
