Estimated period circa 1925–1935, material skew, style Art Deco; an European wooden armchair with a dark-stained frame and floral upholstery, in good vintage condition with small signs of aging and spots.
Description from the seller
Art Deco Wooden Armchair with Floral Upholstery – circa 1930
Description
An impressive Art Deco armchair dating from approximately 1925–1935, featuring a strong architectural design and substantial wooden construction.
The chair is characterised by its broad curved wooden backrest, geometric frame and distinctive sculpted armrests. The restrained decoration and emphasis on form are typical of European furniture from the Art Deco period.
The dark-stained wooden frame has developed an attractive natural patina over the decades, with visible grain and traces of use that emphasize the authentic vintage character of the piece.
The seat is upholstered in a decorative floral tapestry fabric in warm, muted tones. Particularly interesting is the traditional construction visible underneath the seat: wide interwoven upholstery webbing fixed to the wooden frame, demonstrating an older method of furniture construction.
The chair has a substantial and imposing appearance while retaining elegant proportions, making it suitable both as a functional armchair and as a decorative statement piece.
Period: circa 1925–1935
Style: Art Deco
Origin: Europe
Material: Wood, textile upholstery and traditional webbing
Colour: Dark brown with multicoloured floral upholstery
The chair is in good vintage condition considering its age. The wooden frame shows natural patina, scratches, small marks and wear consistent with approximately 90–100 years of use. The upholstery and underside construction are shown clearly in the photographs.
No modern restoration has been used to conceal the natural signs of age.
Please examine all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the description.
A characterful and authentic European Art Deco armchair from around 1930, combining strong geometric design, traditional craftsmanship and a beautiful aged patina.
