Description from the seller

Offered is a striking and highly detailed A1-size poster featuring the legendary 1982 Lancia Rally 037 Stradale — the road-going homologation version of one of the most celebrated Group B rally cars ever created, renowned for its lightweight construction, mid-engine layout, supercharged powertrain, and uncompromising motorsport engineering.

Description

This A1-format poster presents a refined technical-style illustration of the 1982 Lancia Rally 037 Stradale, displayed in multiple views including front, rear, side, and top perspectives. Inspired by classic automotive blueprints, the composition combines engineering precision with the purposeful appearance of a machine developed directly from Lancia’s world rally ambitions.

The design includes:

Accurate proportions and dimensional layout
Multiple perspectives highlighting the 037’s extremely low stance, compact cockpit, wide bodywork, and competition-derived proportions
Detailed presentation of its distinctive front fascia, aerodynamic body panels, rear buttresses, air intakes, and period alloy wheels
Clean technical annotations and specification panel
Vintage-inspired background enhancing the authentic early-1980s Group B motorsport atmosphere

Poster size: A1 (594 × 841 mm)

Design & Aesthetic

Executed in a minimalist and sophisticated technical style, the poster features crisp linework, harmonious composition, and carefully presented engineering details. The muted vintage color palette and lightly aged paper texture complement the aggressive, functional form of the 037, emphasizing its unique combination of Italian design and pure competition engineering.

Subject Significance

Introduced in 1982, the Lancia Rally 037 Stradale was created primarily to satisfy homologation requirements for Lancia’s new Group B rally car. Unlike a conventional production model adapted for competition, the 037 was conceived from the outset as a specialized motorsport machine, with the Stradale serving as its road-legal counterpart.

Developed through the combined expertise of Lancia, Abarth, and Pininfarina, the 037 used a central monocoque structure with tubular subframes and lightweight composite body panels. Its mid-engine configuration concentrated mass near the center of the car, creating the responsive handling characteristics required for top-level rally competition.

At its heart was a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine equipped with a Volumex supercharger. In Stradale specification it produced approximately 205 PS, delivering immediate throttle response and strong performance without the turbo lag associated with many of its later Group B rivals. Power was transmitted exclusively to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual gearbox.

The road-going Stradale retained much of the competition car’s extraordinary engineering character. Its low weight, rear-wheel-drive layout, supercharged engine, and minimal concessions to luxury made it fundamentally different from conventional sports cars of the period.

The competition version of the 037 became one of the defining machines of the early Group B era. In 1983, Lancia captured the World Rally Championship manufacturers’ title with the 037, defeating Audi’s increasingly formidable four-wheel-drive Quattro. This achievement made the 037 the final rear-wheel-drive car to win the WRC manufacturers’ championship.

Only around 200 road-going Stradale examples were produced for homologation, making the model exceptionally rare. Its limited production, direct connection to Group B competition, distinctive supercharged drivetrain, and historic championship success have made the Lancia Rally 037 one of the most desirable homologation specials ever created.
