Description from the seller
This is a beautiful vintage stationary toy steam engine from the well-known British brand Mamod. On the nameplate on the side, the brand name "Mamod" and the text "Made in England" are clearly visible. Given the construction of the model – with a copper or brass boiler, the characteristic perforated red base plate and the flywheel at the front – it is very likely a Mamod Minor or a model from the early SE/SP series (such as the Mamod SE1 or SP1), produced in the mid-20th century (often around the 1950s to 1970s). This type of mechanical toy worked on real steam by heating water in the boiler with a small burner (usually based on spirit or solid fuel tablets) under the housing. Because this is a physical collectable and vintage toy, you can view similar models below and discover where they are offered: This unique collector’s piece has always been in our family; it was traded in its box when purchasing a truck (people after the war did not have much money yet, so the oddest things were traded with purchases or repairs). My grandfather had 7 boys and 2 girls, so toys were always fine; later we as grandchildren played with it; after my grandfather’s death I got this, but now that I am getting older and want to move to smaller living, I am gradually clearing out some items. Of course this is nice for collectors!
