Alice Cooper is an American rock musician and is regarded as one of the most important pioneers of shock rock. He became known for his spectacular stage shows with horror elements such as guillotines, snakes, and fake blood, as well as his distinctive voice and striking makeup. Originally, Alice Cooper referred to the entire band; later the singer Vincent Furnier also adopted the name as his stage name.
Cooper's big breakthrough came in the early 1970s with the Alice Cooper Band and albums like “Love It to Death,” “Killer,” “School’s Out,” and “Billion Dollar Babies.” After the original band's breakup, he began a successful solo career. Among his best-known songs are “School’s Out,” “I’m Eighteen,” “No More Mr. Nice Guy,” “Poison,” and “Only Women Bleed.” Especially School’s Out and Poison developed into international rock classics.
Alice Cooper has sold millions of records worldwide and influenced numerous later hard rock, heavy metal, and glam rock artists. Among his most important honors is the induction of the original Alice Cooper Band into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2011. With a career spanning more than five decades and his elaborately staged concerts, Alice Cooper is regarded as one of the most influential and best-known figures in the history of rock.
