An exceptional cabinet piece for the discerning collector.
We are pleased to present this charming 20 cm miniature “Pocket Baby,” a spectacular testament to the Parisian craftsmanship of the late 19th century. This cabinet doll bears the prestigious maker’s mark stamped in relief on the nape: "C D / 60 RUE MAZARINE / PARIS," accompanied by its size number 1.
Features & Period Qualities:
The Face: A biscuit porcelain head of remarkable delicacy. It embodies the most sought-after criteria of the Golden Age: a closed mouth with lips delicately painted (typical pout) and deep fixed glass eyes. The eyebrows are finely painted in fine, multi-stroked lines.
The Body: A rarity for this small size of 20 cm, the composition body is fully jointed at the balls (knuckles), allowing superb collectible poses. The hands are beautifully detailed with slender, separated fingers.
Outfit & Wig: She wears her natural brown hair wig from the period and is dressed in a charming little linen nightgown/robe edged with fine lace.
Condition:
A superb vintage/antique condition for its great age. The porcelain head is sound (no cracks or restoration visible to the naked eye). The composition body carries a magnificent original patina with slight signs of wear that add to its authentic charm. The internal elastics still hold the joints well.
