Description from the seller

Beautiful Art Deco side table, typical of the Amsterdam School with the distinctive cone feet so characteristic of this style. Together with the curves of the base and the sturdy solid oak, these cone feet are very typical for the Amsterdam School.

The weight of the table is about 9 kg (!), the height 66 cm and the diameter 50 cm. The table is made from Dutch oak, still dried in the old-fashioned way. The top of the side table is made of latoen brass (brass) whose geometric facets have been bronzed. Between these facets run geometric lines where the brass is clearly visible. The facets are engraved with geometric floral motifs. This is also done with the thick rim (see photos). The combination of the use of brass and patinated bronze with the geometric motifs gives this little table a very special and luxurious Art Deco appearance. Very beautiful!

Latoen brass is thin-rolled brass. This was then stretched over the wood of the top. In this way a top was created that could not burn if a cigarette or cigar fell from the ashtray.

The table was probably manufactured in the 1920s or 1930s. This kind of small tables were often used as smoking tables. The table is still 100% original, with all original fixing materials. very nice are the fragments of old newspapers that are still clinging to the underside (likely those edges were laid under the top when it was worked on) and the carpenter's marks written in pencil still on the underside (see photos).

This table is still in very good condition and completely stable. Here and there it has light and logical signs of use (see photos). These are all merely logical signs of use. It can still be used as a smoking table, but of course also simply as a side table.

The table is expertly packed and insured for shipping.

Seller's Story

I sell antique and vintage products. The items I sell are very diverse in nature; from lamps to side tables, from phones to wooden sculptures, from vintage kitchen equipment to Art Deco and Art Nouveau coat racks, and everything in between. The things I buy are usually objects that I personally like and that are of high quality. It sometimes takes effort to part with them! My expertise lies primarily in products from the 20th century. I ship in used boxes combined with paper filler material. The boxes are sturdy. Usually made of double-wall cardboard. I ship, unless otherwise agreed, always within two days of purchase. I attach great importance to friendly, decent and reliable contact with my buyers.
