The Minolta Hi-Matic E (1971) was the electronic flagship of Minolta’s popular Hi-Matic rangefinder series. Its electronically controlled shutter provides programmed automatic exposure, paired with a fast and sharp Rokkor-QF 40mm f/1.7 lens and a bright coupled rangefinder. Compact and capable, it is a well-regarded example of the Japanese fixed-lens rangefinders of the 1970s.

Optical Condition

Functional
Power, shutter and automatic exposure work (shutter repaired).
Light seals replaced and viewfinder interior cleaned.

Measured Performance
We check these cameras on a shutter tester rather than by ear, and we publish what we measured:
- Light meter accuracy — EV12: 2.3 UNDER / EV15: 0.7 UNDER
Some of these deviations exceed what negative film can absorb — please read the Known Issues section and allow for them when shooting.

Servicing
This camera was serviced by us before listing:
- Light seals (foam) replaced
- Viewfinder cleaned internally

Known Issues
1. The meter reads about 2.3 stops under in low light (EV12); within 1 stop in bright light.
2. Haze and cleaning marks on the front element.
3. Dull patches on the metal parts.

Shipping
We ship via either FedEx or Japan Post (ePacket), whichever suits the destination and the parcel. With Japan Post your package is handed over to the local postal carrier in your country for final delivery.

We ship within 3 business days after payment.

Parcels are shipped DDU (Delivered Duty Unpaid): import VAT and any customs duties are collected by customs or the carrier on delivery, in accordance with the rules of the destination country.
