Description from the seller
Christofle Gallia – Silver-plated Toast Rack – France – Art Deco design – ca. 1935–1955
A refined and authentic Christofle Gallia silver-plated toast rack, manufactured in France and bearing the original GALLIA – FRANCE – Christofle hallmarks together with the Christofle quality mark.
Designed with elegant geometric arches and a central carrying ring, this piece perfectly reflects the timeless elegance of French Art Deco tableware. Although originally intended for serving warm toast at breakfast, it also makes a stylish holder for sandwiches, folded napkins or table cards during elegant dinners and festive occasions.
The Gallia line was introduced by Christofle as an innovative collection that allowed the renowned French silversmith to explore modern forms and contemporary design while maintaining the exceptional quality for which the house became internationally famous. Gallia pieces remain highly appreciated by collectors and interior designers alike for their understated sophistication and impeccable craftsmanship.
With its clean architectural lines and luxurious silver-plated finish, this toast rack fits beautifully into both classic and contemporary interiors. It is equally suitable as a functional breakfast accessory or as an elegant decorative object for an Elle Decor-inspired dining room, a Christmas table setting, or a refined festive brunch.
Dimensions
Height: approx. 11 cm
Length: approx. 16 cm
Width: approx. 6.5 cm
Weight: approx. 450 g
Condition
Very good vintage condition with a beautiful natural patina consistent with age and careful use. Light surface wear only, enhancing its authentic character. I’ve cleaned it, but there are still some black traces between the semi-circles; you could clean that further, but I left it as is for the warm patina. Please examine the photographs carefully as they form part of the description.
A timeless French design object by one of the world's most prestigious silversmiths, combining functionality, elegance and collectability.
Catawiki smart shipping services, insured and well packed.
