Silver Lidded Reindeer Snuff Box – Van der Meulen & Zoon, Joure – 835 silver
Beautiful small Dutch silver lidded snuff box, made by Van der Meulen & Zoon in Joure. The oval box is richly decorated with floral motifs. On the lid are two finely worked roses with leaves in relief. The sides are also adorned all around with an elegant flower-and-leaf decoration.
The box is stamped 835 for silver content and the maker’s mark vdM, belonging to Van der Meulen & Zoon, Joure, used in the period 1958–1984.
The hinged lid opens and closes well. The silver has a lovely natural patina that further highlights the relief decoration.
