Märklin Z scale electric locomotive BR 110.3
Description from the seller
Märklin Z - 88414 - Electric locomotive (1) - BR 110.3 "Bügelfalte". - DB
For the Deutsche Bundesbahn, the electric locomotives of series 110 – known as the "Bügelfalte" models (because of the distinctive fold in the nose reminiscent of a trouser crease) – marked the beginning of a modern, streamlined era. Their aerodynamic design conveyed the modernity of advanced locomotives that pulled high-speed trains. From 1963, all 221 high-speed locomotives of the E 10.3 series were fitted with this more aerodynamic body, featuring the characteristic "pants crease" styling on the cab sides. Although the original steel-blue livery for long-distance trains in some units was replaced after overhaul by cobalt blue, this did not detract from their extraordinarily elegant appearance.
Example: Electric locomotive series 110.3 of the Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB). Features include the "pants crease" nose, continuous ventilation grilles, a continuous rain gutter, and the absence of front aprons or cover plates at the buffers. Wheel arrangement: Bo'Bo'. Cobalt-blue color scheme with a V-shaped warning stripe on the cab sides. Operational status around 1979.
Model: Era IV version with rounded buffers. New-generation motor (clockwork motor); switching screw for overhead-line operation moved inward. Enlarged buffer plates. All axles in both bogies are driven. Three-light front signal with warm-white LEDs, alternating with the direction of travel. Dark nickel-plated wheel treads. Length over buffers: 76 mm. Packed in a high-quality real wood case.
