Description from the seller

Antique Japanese Satsuma-style ceramic tea set with a tray featuring the classic design of the "thousand faces" or the Immortals (Lohans), popular during the Meiji period (1868-1912) and the early Taisho period.

Japanese Satsuma-style ceramics, commonly made in the late 19th century or early 20th century (Meiji period).

Its detailed pattern “Thousand Faces” features dozens of hand-painted faces with unique expressions, accompanied by robes decorated with intricate patterns highly contrasting and detailed in gold.

Includes a tall teapot with lid, a sugar bowl with two handles, and a large rectangular tray with the same detailed decoration.

•

Exclusive collection set due to its age, style, and scarce condition, which includes the same tray as an extra value (not all sets keep it).

The pieces are very well preserved, with no damage !!

Pattern with fine typical crazing and vivid tones this set is over 100 years old; note some gold wear on handles and knobs inherent to its use and age. Reflected in the penultimate images, age patina proving its authenticity, more beautiful than in unused showcase photos, fabulous for display in a vitrine and interiors.
