Description from the seller

Villeroy and Boch, animal park, bonbonnière with goat, DESIGN Rosemarie Benedikt, 90s.

Rosemarie Benedikt began her training at the Vienna Fashion School Hetzendorf with the subject of textile design. After five years of training from 1954 to 1959, she was selected from several applicants to work for the porcelain manufacturer Rörstrand in Lidköping. Here she first came into contact with this material, which became decisive for her further artistic path. Until 1964 she worked as a designer for the manufactory in Sweden. After her return to Vienna, she was appointed as a lecturer at the University of Applied Arts; from 1975 to 2000 she taught there as an assistant professor. Since the mid-1970s she has run her own studio in Vienna. In 1987 and 1988 she attended postgraduate courses at the Pilchuck Glass School in Seattle. Since 1993 she has worked as a designer for Villeroy & Boch. Beginning in 2006, alongside her original porcelain figurines, she also created occasionally monumental glass sculptures in Murano. In 2005 her work was awarded the Austrian Culture Prize.

Numerous works are in museums and private collections at home and abroad.

From 1993 Rosemarie Benedikt completed numerous study trips. In 1993 she temporarily lived as Artist in Residence in Fujino, Japan and traveled to Taiwan. In 1997 and 2000 she was in Mexico and in 2004 on the occasion of the 1000-year porcelain jubilee in China. Since 2006 she spends time on Murano and works there at the renowned glass manufacturer Berengo Fine Arts on her glass worlds.
